Basically, Google offers companies the opportunity to re-reach visitors to their page by collecting their cookie IDs, then adding them to a remarketing list.  Once collected, Google allows the company to advertise their banners on web pages that have accepted Google advertising placements, where these audiences venture off to. The types of features available to these companies are varied, with the ability to customize target audience lists and so on. However, some limits are a 100 minimum amount of cookie ID’s per list before your ads can go live; the interface for the ad-words can also take a while to get your head around too.

E-commerce pages that experience plenty of “shopping cart abandonment” tend to benefit greatly from remarketing, securing more online sales than without it!
