Q. I haven’t created a Google Places page but my business is already there. Why is that?
A. If you do a search for your business name and location in Google and a Google places result comes up for your business even if you haven’t created a places listing this means Google has created one for you from a trusted third party data source elsewhere on the internet.
Google has many different “trusted” sources which it scrapes to create maps for businesses it deems important. So if you have submitted your business to any of these trusted third party sources, then the likelihood is that Google has used the information provided to create a Google Places map result for you. Some examples of these third party sources trusted by Google and scraped for relevant information include online business directories such as www.yellowpages.com.au and www.truelocal.com.au.
