It’s targeted marketing that you need to do if you’re expecting customers to find your website organically.
What do you mean ‘Optimisation”?
How many times have you searched for something and clicked thorough to the 5th page to find what you’re looking for? My point exactly, most people don’t go past the first page, so that’s where you need to be.
Google is infinite, so how it goes about deciding who to show on the first page is critical to your success. Essentially, Google tries to give its customers what they need, using a number of algorithms to decide which website is most relevant to the search term entered and ranks them in that order. The ranking factors are what you need to optimize your website for.
Pretty simple, follow the guidelines and your site will be on the first page… right??….
Sadly, it’s not quite that simple in practice. Those ranking factors constantly evolve due to the way customers search and your online competitors change, so keeping ahead of the trend involves research, analysis and trying new things.
In order for Google to ensure your website is modelled around the end user, rather than its ranking factors it also has a neat way of catching you out. If you’re doing something dodgy to manipulate the ranking factors (known as Black Hat SEO) Google uses other algorithms known as Penguin, Panda, Pigeon & Hummingbird to penalise you for trying to dodge the system. Get caught and your ranking can drop from the first page to page 100 instantly… OUCH!.
The great news is, if you are genuine you can reach your customers with an extremely low cost per click and enjoy being on page one.
In summary, there’s a lot that goes into SEO, hence why most people outsource that task to a company like ROI.com.au, but it remains as one of the cheapest forms of digital marketing business can invest in.
